With over 25 years of clinical experience, I am a UK Registered Dietitian providing evidence-based nutrition support tailored to individual medical, lifestyle and behavioural needs.
My clinical background includes working in leading NHS hospitals including St George's Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust, Ulster Hospital and Northern Ireland Cancer Centre. I have also worked within community health initiatives, lectured at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and advised elite and professional athletes.
Alongside clinical practice, I work in the field of microbiome research translation and co-authored the first Clinical Guide to Probiotic Products Available in the UK, developed in collaboration with microbiome researchers at the Universities of Reading and Leeds. The guide has been recognised in the Chief Scientific Adviser’s Annual Report for the Food Standards Agency and featured in The Times.
I am also currently researching and authoring the first international Clinical Guide to Prebiotic Products, an evidence-based website resource designed to help healthcare professionals and consumers better understand the clinical applications of prebiotics and commercially available products.
In addition, I work closely with GPs prescribing GLP-1 weight loss medications and researched and authored a Nutrition Support Guide to help support patients using these treatments safely and effectively alongside dietary and lifestyle change.
My specialist areas of interest include:
-
Gastroenterology and gut health
-
Probiotics and prebiotics
-
Hormone and metabolic health
-
GLP-1 weight management support
-
Neurodiversities including ADHD and autism
-
Disordered eating and complex relationships with food
I take a compassionate, non-judgemental and trauma-informed approach to care. I have experience working with individuals with complex psychiatric histories, eating disorders, neurodiversities, chronic health conditions and longstanding difficulties with food, weight and body image.
Many of the people I work with have previously felt dismissed, overwhelmed or misunderstood within healthcare settings. My aim is to help patients feel supported, understood and equipped with realistic, evidence-based strategies that can work in real life.
Consultations are available both in-person in Bangor, Northern Ireland, and online via Zoom.
Registered Dietitians are the only nutrition professionals regulated by law in the UK, ensuring the highest standards of clinical training, professional accountability and evidence-based care.
